Essentials of the Certification Process for Licensed Naturopathic Doctors

Prerequisites
- License to practice naturopathic medicine in at least one state in the United States or province in Canada
- At least two (2) years of homeopathic practice post-graduation
- At least 350 hours of homeopathic education/training, including the 30-hour DHANP Core Curriculum
- 30-hour DHANP Core Curriculum is available through the HANP and Whole Health Now

- At least two (2) letters of recommendation submitted to ABHM: one (1) professional and one (1) from a DHANP (DABHM) in good standing (see ABHM Letters of Recommendation Guidelines)
Certification Process
PART 1
- Completion of Application
- Payment (online or check) of $500 fee.
- Upload documentation and verification of all prerequisites (including completion of the 30-hour DHANP Core Curriculum and other items mentioned above)
- Applicants will receive access to their private Google Drive folder after completing the application and paying the fee
- Please email us if you do not receive access to your personal folder within one week of applying (submitting payment and completing online application)
PART 2
- Submission of a minimum of five (5) cases: two (2) acute, two (2) chronic, one (1) failed case
- All cases must be of your own work that are of a quality suitable for publication
- All cases must adhere to the formatting and style guidelines outlined in the Bulletin of Information for Applicants
- You must submit as many cases as are necessary to demonstrate all the required competencies listed in the competency requirements
- You will be notified if an oral interview is requested by the ABHM Board after cases have been graded
Important Notes
- The deadline for case submissions is September 1 annually
- Your application expires after one (1) year
- Application graders are blinded to ensure integrity and objectivity for every application
- You are permitted three (3) attempts to pass the DHANP (DABHM) case submission process
- Due to the time commitment involved in grading case submissions, you must pay the full application fee for each re-submission
- Because ABHM uses a standardized multi-grader approach to grade case submissions, ABHM does not change grades assigned to your case submission
Appeals
- You may appeal to be granted the third attempt** at the case submission process under the following conditions:
- A minimum of three (3) years must have passed since your last case submission attempt
- You must show documentation that you have completed additional training in homœopathy
- You must make a compelling case in writing for how the additional training and passage of time has prepared you to successfully complete the case submission process
**The previous requirements and allowances (4 attempts total) will be granted to applicants who previously submitted their application to the HANP by 12/31/2020
Maintaining DHANP (DABHM) Status with ABHM
- Diplomates are strongly encouraged to obtain a minimum of 30 hours of continuing homœopathic educational credits every three (3) years
- ABHM annual membership dues of $75.00
